Preventative Health Awareness Month February 1st-28th, 2023

As Canadians, we are fortunate to have access to high-quality healthcare, but the ongoing global pandemic has highlighted the importance of proactive health management. People are waking up to the importance of playing an active role in their health. The traditional "pill for an ill, wait until it's broken" approach to health is no longer sustainable, as our healthcare system struggles to keep up with demand.

By focusing on preventative care, we can take a proactive approach to our health, and "Become the CEO of Your Health."

Preventative Health Awareness Month aims to give Canadians the tools today for a healthier tomorrow.

What is PHAM?

PHAM will be a month-long interactive online grassroots campaign. We aim to bring together doctors of conventional medicine and complementary healthcare providers to help every Canadian stock their preventative health toolbox with actionable strategies they can use to keep themselves healthy at every age and stage of life.

Preventative Health Month has been recognized by Health Canada

What does Preventative Health Mean?

Another word for preventative health is prophylaxis. Preventative or prophylactic health measures help prevent disease. Common examples of preventative health measures include:

Seeing your doctor for regular check-ups, even if you are healthy.

Performing screening tests for diseases.

Making healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating a balanced diet and getting an adequate amount of sleep.

Understanding when we need to add minerals and vitamin supplements to our routine when we don’t have enough in our diet.

Identifying risk factors for diseases and mitigating them where possible.

Practicing Stress management and mindfulness.

Seeking to have a balanced lifestyle between all areas of your life - mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and even financial.

Utilizing complementary medicine such as Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, and more!

The State of Preventative Health in Canada

Nearly one-third of Canadian adults delayed seeking healthcare during the first year of the Pandemic
